Waiting For The Sun
Waiting For The Sun unites graphists, artists and creatives around one goal : design objects and accessories with raw materials. The W/Sün sunglasses are 100% natural in teawood or bamboo. They are all handmade in France.
Who are you?
A parisian label founded in 2010 by 2 friends, Antoine Mocquard and Julien Tual. We define ourselves as a creative team with various origins.
How did you start in fashion?
We started in fashion because we all followed an artistic path. We started W /SÜN by chance, one night in a bar. It was a crazy bet at that time.
How would you define your style?
Parisian sophistication and californian casual attitude. Yes, we like that definition...
What inspires you?
Everything around us. We create all together, that means that inspiration are very different, but are mainly focused on what we'd like for ourselves or our friends.
A few words about this collection...
Each year, it's almost a scientific process: redefine a classic fashion model with an unexpected material. Concrete jewelery, tarmac candels or wooden sunglasses, we like to rush things around object / material associations.
What are you most proud of?
Having realized a project that was far from easy.
Where do you manufacture your products?
It's a long process that requires many providers. Australian wood, Chinese bamboo, Italian glasses, people working in Paris... our sunglasses don't really come from one country, even if the brand is located in Belleville (Paris).
Where can we find your collection?
About 200 retailers around the world: shops we selected and we like.
If your brand was a music, a movie, a cocktail...
A cocktail? definitely a fresh beer! About music, it's more complicated: the doors, Neil Young, Nirvana, more recent formations like Connan Mocassin, Bon Iver, or new wave...
Coming to movies, it's even more delicate, there are so many. Let's say "L'inspecteur Harry (but only in French version), and "Me and you and everyone we know" of Miranda July.
